“Nawlins”
In keeping with one of Grace’s oldest
ministries and outreach traditions, a team of youth and adults
traveled to New Orleans to serve in mission. We left on Saturday,
July 12th and returned on Sunday, July 20th. This was an amazing
opportunity for both the young adults and “older” adults to connect
spiritually, socially and skillfully with some of God’s children in
need. Through the organization of TeamEffort we had the tasks of
dry-walling and landscaping the home of Patrick and Gwen Skinner. We
also had the pleasure of singing, worshipping, praying, and laughing
with Patrick and Gwen.
This was an awesome experience that
had a tremendous spiritual impact on all of us. Grace should be
extremely proud of our youth; their spirituality, worship talents
and capacity for compassion is something we can all learn from.
We wish to thank everyone for their
support in getting us to New Orleans (and back). A special thanks to
Karen and Keith Koch and to Aimee and Scott Moll for lending their
vehicles for us to use. We also wish to thank the 1st Presbyterian
church in Kilgore, Texas and the Custer Roads Church in Plano, Texas
for their hospitality.
Grace’s amazing mission team members
consist of: Kirk Anderson, Jay Ayers, Marland Chang, Jim Grannis,
Betsy Jamison, Bill Woolf, Cory Barnett, Holly Grannis, Andy Bailey,
Courtney Cummings, Alex Gealy, Ariana Moll, Falon Moll, Maggie
Rainwater, Molly Rainwater, Nick Scannapieco, and Sarah Woolf.
